Manchester United ready offer for Liverpool target Nabil Fekir

Image
Manchester United have table an offer for Liverpool target Nabil Fekir, according to reports. The Lyon star was reportedly close to joining Liverpool in a £60 million deal earlier this month, however his proposed move to Anfield broke down with reports suggesting the Reds detected a problem with the player’s knee during his medical. Subsequent to Fekir’s failed move to Anfield, Lyon revealed the France international would remain in Ligue 1 next season. However French paper  Le Progres  claim Lyon will still sell a number of their biggest stars this summer including Fekir, and that Manchester United could be ready to capitalise on Liverpool’s failure to complete a move for the 24-year-old. “For Nabil, offers are not lacking. The latest comes from Manchester United,” the report from the French newspaper says. Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas also confirmed United’s interest in Fekir, saying: “I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions. “Personally

A Footballer gets married and signs for new club on the same day

They say your wedding day is the happiest of your life, and for new Plymouth Argyle full-back Joe Riley it proved doubly so. The 26-year-old, who had just been on the losing side with Shrewsbury in the League One play-off final, was about to get married to his fiancee Kayleigh when he found out the Pilgrims wanted to sign him. "I had a quick check of my phone and I had a text off my agent saying Plymouth are interested," he told BBC Devon. "I said 'go for it'. And when asked what was better on his wedding day - his nuptials or the contract offer from Argyle - Riley quipped: "It was a tough call." Riley began his career as a youngster at Bolton Wanderers, but after Premier League starts against Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, as well as a substitute appearance at boyhood favourites Manchester United, his progress was hampered by a succession of injuries. A broken foot put paid to much of his second season at Bolton and he missed all of the 2013-

Lionel Messi used to play as Chelsea on Fifa - Pablo zabaleta

Image
LIONEL MESSI used to play with Chelsea on Fifa, according to Argentina team-mate Pablo Zabaleta. The pair used to play against each other on the pitch and online when Zabaleta was at Espanyol, Barcelona's city rivals. The West Ham defender spent three years at the Spanish club before joining Manchester City in 2008 but revealed the Barcelona star would often choose the west London club. Speaking to the BBC, Zabaleta said: "I was better at PlayStation than Messi. He used to play with Chelsea a lot. "I used to live in Barcelona city and he was living 30 minutes outside. We were playing on the internet." But Messi and Chelsea never seemed to be a perfect match. Messi has played more Champions League minutes against Chelsea than any other side, a total of 835 minutes spanning across 10 matches. But he did not find the net in the first 730 minutes against the Stamford Bridge club until last season, where he netted three times across the Champions League Round of 16 tie. M

Argentine legend maradona faces stadium ban over his behaviour against Nigeria

Image
World’s football governing body, FIFA will be examining Diego Maradona’s gesture during Argentina’s Albiceleste final Group D match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday, June 26, after taking into account the unhealthy scenes despite the legend’s ambassadorial role, a UK Telegraph report suggests. The former World Cup winner, was reportedly earning £10,000 plus expenses for event he attends in his capacity as a FIFA ambassador, but was captured by television cameras reacting negatively as he celebrated Marcos Rojo’s winning with a double one-finger salute. Seriously, FIFA rules prohibit discrimination by teams, officials and fans at matches it organises and Maradona posted on his Facebook page that he saw “an Asian boy wearing an Argentina T-shirt”, adding: “I, from afar, tried to tell them how nice it seemed to me that even the Asians cheer for us. And that’s all, guys, come on.” After the match, the Argentine sent a voice message to a journalist friend, where he said: “Where we

Brazil's Marcelo could be sidelined by 'hotel mattress' injury

Image
A soft mattress may be behind the back injury that forced Brazil left-back Marcelo out of his country's 2-0 victory over Serbia, according to the team's medical staff. Marcelo limped from the pitch early during Wednesday's game in Moscow, being replaced by Atletico Madrid's Filipe Luis, with the score still at 0-0. Speaking in the Spartak Stadium's mixed zone after the game, Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar explained that the substitution had been a precaution as the 30-year-old had felt muscles "lock up" and knew he could not continue. "Marcelo has a medical history with this kind of injury," Lasmar said. "Maybe it was the hotel's mattress, which was a bit more soft than usual. But [the injury] happened because he made a rotation movement and felt uncomfortable after. He could not continue in the game, because his muscles became locked up." Marcelo has missed games for Real Madrid due to muscle problems in both of the la

Colombia tops Group H as Senegal gets eliminated by fair play rules

Image
Colombia defeated Senegal 1-0 to advance to the World Cup round of 16 as Group H winners in a result that sent the African side out of the competition on the fair play ranking. Yerry Mina's 74th-minute header allowed Colombia to top the group on six points, while Senegal finished level on four points with Japan, who lost 1-0 to already-eliminated Poland in the other group game played simultaneously. Both Japan and Senegal had even goal differences and had scored four goals each, but Japan advanced as runners-up because they only picked up four yellow cards in the group stage, while Senegal had six. After Poland took the lead over Japan in the other game, a draw would have seen both Colombia and Senegal through, but Mina rose highest to head in Juan Quintero's corner to put the South American side ahead. It wasn't all good news for Colombia, however, as talismanic forward James Rodriguez left the game in the first half with what appeared to be

Breaking : Wayne Rooney joins DC United on three-and-a-half-year deal from Everton

Image
WAYNE ROONEY has left Everton and completed his switch to MLS side DC United. The ex-Manchester United captain jetted to Washington on Thursday to put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half year deal. The 32-year-old was granted a visa and work permit to play in America, with England's all-time top scorer expected to link up with his new team-mates at training next week. But Rooney will have to wait to make his debut, as the transfer window Stateside does not open until July 10, meaning he cannot be officially registered as DC United's new star until then. He will miss fixtures against New England Revolution and LA Galaxy, the latter of which have former team-mates Ashley Cole and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their midst. Rooney will instead be expected to make his debut for the capital club against Vancouver Whitecaps. The move ends months of talk and speculation of his move to the States. Rooney left Manchester United as their all-time top scorer 12 months ago, but an uninspiring retur

Sanchez becomes the footballer with the second-fastest red card at the World Cup

Image
Colombian midfielder Carlos Sancez has become the first footballer to be shown the second-fastest red card in World Cup history. The former Aston Villa player was sent off just three minutes into Colombia's clash against Japan on Tuesday, June 19. The 32-year old blocked a goal-bound shot from former Manchester United star, Shinji Kagawa, with his right arm inside the box leading to his punishment by referee Damir Skomina. The marching orders to one of their key players left Colombia devastated even as they went on to lose their opening Group H match against the Asian nation. Jose Pekerman's side was defeated 2-1, with Kagawa opening the scoring for Japan from the penalty spot prior to Sanchez's red card. Juan Quintero restored parity for Colombia in the 39th minute, with Yuya Osako making it 2-1 for Japan in the 73rd minute. Despite Japan's stunning win against one of the strongest footballing nation, Sanchez's red card took centre stage of the tie

Breaking : Emre Can completes Juventus move on free transfer

Image
EMRE CAN has completed his move to Juventus on a free transfer after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season. The German midfielder arrived in Turin for his medical this morning, ending months of speculation over his future. The 24-year-old turned down a contract extension with Jurgen Klopp's side after months of talks over fresh terms. But he decided to run down his deal, and move to the Serie A champions for nothing in a huge coup for the club. Liverpool signed the former Bayer Leverkusen playmaker in 2014 for a modest fee. He has developed into a key figure in midfield and was sorely missed at times as he struggled with injury this season. Klopp has already signed Fabinho from Monaco to replace Can after several attempts to persuade his compatriot to stay. The Brazilian international arrived in a £44million deal last month after making 225 appearances and scoring 29 goals in his five years at the Ligue 1 outfit. He helped them to win the Ligue 1 title just over a year ago a

Done deal : Arsenal sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno

Image
Arsenal have completed the signing of goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, throwing Petr Cech's future at the club into doubt. The deal was announced after Arsenal reportedly agreed a €25 million fee with Leverkusen. Leno, 26, brings immediate competition for the starting spot and most likely means Arsenal will sell one of their two previous goalkeepers -- Cech or Colombia international David Ospina -- though it remains unclear which one will have to give way. Ospina has been linked with a move to Turkey, while reports in Italy have claimed Napoli would be interested in taking Cech on loan. However, Cech only has one year left on his contract and new coach Unai Emery could still view him as his No. 1 with Leno the anointed long-term replacement. "We are very pleased that Bernd Leno will be joining us," Emery said in a statement. "Bernd is a goalkeeper of high quality and experience. He has been a top performer and regular number one goalkeeper with Leverkuse

West Ham sign Swansea City's Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski

Image
The Poland international, 33, moves to London Stadium on a three-year contract, just a day after the Hammers signed defender Issa Diop for £22m. Fabianski, who moved to Wales from Arsenal in 2014, told Swansea he wanted to leave the Liberty Stadium after their relegation to the Championship. "I'm really happy to be joining at such an exciting time here," he said. "I will do my best on and off the pitch to help the team to achieve the best results possible and can't wait to start this new chapter of my career." Fabianski, who was Swansea's Player of the Year last season, is in Russia for the World Cup but did not feature in Poland's 2-1 defeat by Senegal on Tuesday. The Swans last week turned down a bid from West Ham for him. The Hammers had been searching for a replacement for Joe Hart following the end of his loan spell from Premier League champions Manchester City. "Lukasz is an experienced and established Premier League goalkeeper, with grea

A police spokesman told Reuters on Wednesday that one person was hurt in the incident, in the port city of Antwerp, but no arrests were made. Local newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen quoted police as saying some 40-50 people had been involved. Bar manager Johan Peeraer told the paper that around 100 Poles and 30 Senegalese supporters had been watching the game when things got tense. Why One Of The Portuguese Players Didn't Celebrate With Cristiano Ronaldo

Image
Many of you might not have noticed this, while some of you noticed that during Cristiano’s hat-trick celebration, all of the Portuguese players ran to celebrate with him except for one player who had to stay inside the pitch and wondered why. Could he be beefing cristiano? Anyways, the player stayed back because as FIFA rule states, if all players are off the pitch during celebrations, the opposing team can kickoff the game. And i am sure you all know what that means many people don't know this.

Mo Salah celebrates 26th birthday with 100kg cake decorated with golden boot

EGYPT and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was gifted a giant 100kg cake to celebrate his 26th birthday – complete with a golden boot decoration. The birthday boy missed the opening game of his nation’s World Cup campaign with the shoulder injury he suffered in the Champion League final. And he is in race against time to get fit after his side lost to a last-gasp Uruguay header. Even if his shoulder is not 100 per cent, his morale should be sky high after the generous gesture at his side’s base in Grozny in Chechnya. The Anfield hero Salah smiled and hugged his team-mates as they sang ‘Happy Birthday’ in English and Arabic before blowing out the candles and heading to his room to continue his recovery. Egypt coach Hector Cuper is confident the former Chelsea man could make a surprise appearance in the two remaining group games, with Russia up next. After the Uruguay loss, he said: “Salah is very important for us, no one can deny that. “But we have a good team and with Salah playing, thing
