De Bruyne to resume first-team training within next few days

KEVIN DE BRUYNE is poised to resume training with Manchester City in the next few days. The Belgian superstar, 27, is feeling his way back after injuring knee ligaments in training seven weeks ago. De Bruyne has privately targeted the Manchester derby at the Etihad in early November as his possible comeback from injury. And Pep Guardiola is happy with the progress his £54million midfielder is making - as he prepares to step up his comeback. Jose Mourinho was hoping not to be the fall guy this week, but the Manchester United boss couldn’t help himself from tripping over at Wembley before England’s Nations League defeat to Spain. Mourinho was strolling into Club Wembley to take his position for the match when he slipped over on the concrete. The Special One dropped to the ground and had a sheepish look on his face as he clambered back up in front of the stunned crowd. Football fans were quick to react to the incident on Twitter, with one comparing Mourinho to former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The League Management Company and clubs in a meeting on Friday reached a consensus to end the league season after 24 games due to the worries of meeting the October 15 deadline of the Confederation of African Football for submission of its representatives for club competitions.
