Ronaldo agrees £88m Juventus switch

CRISTIANO RONALDO has agreed to join Juventus in a staggering £88m deal after president Andrea Agnelli travelled to Greece to convince him to join.

The Real Madrid legend is having a holiday break away with family after a long season which ended in World Cup heartache.

He is spending time away with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and family, and mulled over an £88m switch to Italy.

And the Juventus chief took a private jet from Pisa to the Greek city of Calmata today to finalise the deal, according to ESPN.

It is understood Old Lady boss Max Allegri spoke to Ronaldo on the phone last Friday over moving to Turin.

The talks are thought to have gone well with the 33-year-old, with detailed plans set for the future and aims to win the Champions League.

It is thought the switch could be announced as early as this afternoon, in a move which will create a European transfer merry-go-round.

Juventus will almost certainly be forced into selling some of their stars to fund the deal.

Now, Gonzalo Higuain, Alex Sandro and Daniele Rugani all look set to leave this summer.

The ex-Manchester United ace cast doubt over his Real future following the Champions League final win over Liverpool on May 26.

He said at the time that "it has been nice being at Real Madrid" - sparking mass speculation he was ready to quit the Bernabeu.

Juventus then made their move, contacting his representatives and the Spanish giants to confirm interest in snapping him up.

Jose Mourinho was hoping not to be the fall guy this week, but the Manchester United boss couldn’t help himself from tripping over at Wembley before England’s Nations League defeat to Spain. Mourinho was strolling into Club Wembley to take his position for the match when he slipped over on the concrete. The Special One dropped to the ground and had a sheepish look on his face as he clambered back up in front of the stunned crowd.
