Home of Pique and Shakira robbed in Barcelona as thieves cart away with valuables
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and Shakira's home has been robbed by thieves in Catalonia.
The couple lost several expensive watches and pieces of jewellery during the burglary who and it is understood the singer and her footballer husband were not at home during the robbery.
However Pique's parents were believed to be sleeping upstairs in the house when the break-in occurred.
The reports also said there was no violence during the home invasion and Catalan police have opened an investigation fish out the perpetrators.
The 41-year-old singer was performing in Cologne, Germany, while her hubby used his day off from training with the Spanish team to watch his wife's performance.
A police spokeswoman said the burglars did not initially know the owners of the house were the Piques'.
The thieves carted away took luxury watches belonging to the singer's footballer husband and a selection of pricey jewelry.
Pique's parents heard nothing and only discovered something was unusual when they woke up and called police.
"These types of criminals usually act very professionally and wear gloves and balaclavas," a police spokesman has told the Spanish press.
Gerard Pique and Shakira have two children, Milan, five, and Sasha, three, since they have been together in 2011.
Last year, rumours of a 'split' surfaced in the press, but despite a rocky relationship with his country's own supporters, it seems as if things are still strong with them.
A statement from Shakira's publicist, issued to HOLA magazine, read: "Shakira and Gerard Piqué’s relationship is still going strong. Everything is the same."
It added that claims of a split were “only rumors ” from people “who want to harm Pique.”
