Gunmen attack Premier League manager and his wife in serious robbery in Chile

West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini and his wife were on Saturday, June 2, attacked by gunmen as they headed to a restaurant with friends in the Chilean capital Santiago.

The gunmen are said to have stolen a handbag thought to belong to Carola Pucci, Pellegrini’s wife before shooting at cop who tried to stop them and escaped.

But despite the violence by the armed robbers, Manuel Pellegrini and his wife were not hurt on Saturday evening according to the report by UK Sun.

Pellegrini and his friends are said to have tried to calm the gunmen down while they pointed their weapon at them and demanded their valuables.

“They fired two shots at officers and threw road spikes down to stop them following as they sped off which resulted in a police car being damaged,'' local police chief Gonzalo Munoz was quoted to have said by UK Sun.

Manuel Pellegrini who was ex Manchester City boss was appointed West Ham United manager last month, and he is expected to be in charge of the club in their campaign next season.

It was Earlier reported how Premier League campaigners West Ham United named Chilean professional football manager Manuel Pellegrini as their new gaffer.

After leaving his position at Hebei China Fortune, the 64-year-old was said to have flew to London before being appointed by West Ham chiefs.

According to BBC, negotiations were concluded on Monday night, May 21, allowing the former Manchester City gaffer to return to the Premier League.
