FRED arrives for Manchester United medical ahead of £52m switch from Shakhtar Donetsk

FRED has arrived at Manchester United's Carrington training ground to undergo a medical.

The Brazilian is close to completing a £52million move from Shakhtar Donetsk to join Jose Mourinho's Premier League runners-up.

Fred, hidden from view in the back seat, was snapped on his way into Manchester United's training ground this morning to undergo the medical part of his transfer.

The 25-year-old stayed in the back seat as he was driven in for the next part of his big Premier League transfer.

Brazilian sources confirmed last night that the midfielder was granted permission to leave the international camp after the clash with Croatia to undergo the medical.

Reds boss Jose Mourinho is keen to complete the deal before Fred jets off to Russia with Tite's squad.

Premier League champions Manchester City were linked to Fred in January, but the move did not materialise.

Fred was named on the bench for Brazil's World Cup warm-up match against Croatia at Anfield.

After undergoing the medical with United, the midfielder is expected to return for the final friendly against Austria.

Tite's Samba Boys will then face Switzerland, Serbia and Costa Rica in the group stages.

Fred was signed by Shakhtar in 2013 for £10million from Internacional in Brazil, where he was a two-time Campeonato Gaucho champion.

Since then, the 24-year-old has been a regular with the Moles, helping them claim two league titles, two domestic cups and three Super Cups, as well as playing in both the Champions League and the Europa League.
