Portugal Announce 35-man Preliminary Squad For 2018 World Cup

Portugal have officially announced the preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup In Russia.

A notable absentee is Bayern Munich star Renato Sanchez despite proving crucial to Portugal's Euro 2016 win.

Sanchez played six out of seven games an an 18 year old in France as the Cristiano Ronaldo led nation took its first ever international title.


But he has failed to improve at Bayern Munich and even on loan at Swansea City, and will play no part in Manager Fernando Santos' squad for the World Cup finals.

Portugal face Spain in their first group game on June 15 followed by game Against Morocco on June 20.

The nation ends its group stage matches against Iran on June 25.
